Carrington marks 25 years of aged care in Parkinson

Local schools, community members and some special puppy guests helped the Bolton Clarke Carrington residential aged care home mark its 25th anniversary this month with special celebrations including the launch of the home’s new outdoor gym.
Since opening its doors in October of 2001, Carrington has worked closely with the local community while continuing to grow. The home now has 110 residents, with independent living for retirees available at the co-located retirement village.
To mark the quarter century, the community enjoyed performances from St Stephen’s College students and Ormeau State High School students who helped open the new outdoor gym area.
Three other Bolton Clarke homes from southeast Queensland also attended and went through puppy adoption ceremonies as part of an expanding live-in pet therapy program which has been a success at Carrington for the last few years.
Carrington resident Maureen Dawson shared her experience living at the home for the past three years and thanked team members.
"One of the things I appreciate most about living at Carrington is knowing that support is always there when I need it,” Maureen said.
"The personal care workers are always there when I need assistance and the registered nurses are simply wonderful.
"Their kindness and dedication make a real difference every day.".
Bolton Clarke Carrington General Manager Sam Bolanghe said the celebrations marked a historical moment for the community.
“For the past 25 years, residents have been at the heart of every decision, every improvement and every moment of care within these walls,” Sam said.
“We are honouring every resident who has called Carrington home and the stories, wisdom and laughter that has shaped the community we are so proud of today.
“Many of our staff have spent years, even decades, caring for residents, dedicating their time to better the future of care,” he said.
Along with the home’s anniversary, four of Carrington’s team members were awarded for their 25 years of service.
